Kihon

The Kihon or Basics of Okinawan Goju Ryu are full and varied. In fact, referring to them as "basics" is a misnomer. It would be better to call this Base, or Foundation training.

At each level of Kyu Grade, and well into the advanced Dan grades, new fundemental techniques are taught and practiced. This is one of the many things that differentiates Okinawan Goju Ryu from many other systems.

Kata

The Kata of Okinawan Goju Ryu are a combination of cultural treasure, and library of appropriate martial responses.

Vigorous Kata practice will allow the practitioner to better grasp the principles of Okinawan Goju Ryu.

All thirteen Kata of Okinawan Goju Ryu are taught at the Okinawa Goju Ryu Bujutsukan.

Kumite

The many different levels and forms of Kumite found in Okinawan Goju Ryu make the training experience realistic, yet with strict guidelines for safe development.

Kumite is a personal challenge, and your partner is there to assist you during this time. Our Kumite is not confrontational, but rather co-operative.
